When Maverick Mayes was growing up in Miami, FL as a child he took to art naturally. He would draw his favorite cartoons, graffiti, and even a face from time to time.

Maverick moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL when he was a teenager where he began his passion for tattooing. Since beginning his tattoo career Maverick is mostly self taught. He spent his high school years tattooing his friends, and himself. The following years Maverick started working in a couple of different tattoo shops, building up both his skills, and his portfolio.

These days, Maverick is known for creating hyper detailed black and gray realism, and surrealism tattoos, that you can recognize from across the room. His custom design process includes everything from photoshop, procreate, and 3D modeling. That way each tattoo is its own original piece of art.

Maverick now works in Irving, Texas, and He works primarily in black and grey realism and custom tattoo design, tattooing clients throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Irving, Plano, Frisco, and the greater DFW area. With many traveling in from across Texas for his black and grey realism and custom tattoo work.

Always striving to get better, Maverick is always learning as much about art that he can. Maverick completed some online seminars from world renowned tattoo artist Thomas Carli Jarlier, this gave Maverick the confidence to execute tattoos more technically than before. Maverick has since began to push his own envelope further and further with each tattoo he creates, and has no intention of stopping.

When he’s not tattooing, Maverick enjoys spending time with his family, painting, & even some photography.
